Tools of the Trade
The Creativity
Creativity is perhaps the most underrated of all the tools used to make a film or photograph great. It is what gives life to the end product. It is essential.
The Cameras
For both video and still photography, we use dual high-end DSLR cameras – the Canon 5D Mark ii to be specific. We chose this camera due to the full frame sensor which has amazing low light capabilities and allows a depth of field that comes closer to that cinematic look that everyone loves than most cameras on the market today.
The Lenses
We use only Canon lenses and often shoot with “L” series lenses which is Canon’s flagship line that provides optical quality far superior to many of its competitors. Our lens collection includes wide-angles, telephoto zooms, primes, macros, etc.
The Lights
Lighting makes or breaks a video or photo production and we have a range of solutions for any look you are trying to achieve. If you want a soft feel for engagement photos, a harsh off-putting tone for a horror flick, or anything in between – we can accommodate.
The Audio
When making a film, audio often gets overlooked while trying to achieve a beautiful picture. But with as much high-quality media as people today see, crisp clean audio is essential. When audio is done well it’s often something most people won’t even notice or think about, but when it is done poorly it comes to the forefront and is incredibly distracting and can often ruin a film. We use a range of quality microphones including stereo mics, shotgun mics, and lav mics and then mix the audio in post production to get the blend just right.
The Extras
We use a range of other tools and gadgets including fluid head tripods for smooth pans and tilts, a motorized slider for precise controlled slides, a Steadicam when walking to reduce camera shake, an array of lens filters to compliment any situation, and much more.
The Post Production
After we capture the photo, video, or audio you want then the post production begins. We uses a state of the art computer with an Intel i7 chip, 12GB of ram, an incredibly fast graphics card, and a Blu-ray burner. We have four hard drives working together to make sure all information is backed up on at least two drives – if not three or four – so that in the event that a hard drive dies (this happens more than you’d think) your files will not be lost. As for the software, we have latest versions of many programs from companies like Adobe, Red Giant, Singular Software, and Coremelt.
